MANILA - A man jumped from the Mabini Bridge in Manila on Sunday but was rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard Station in Malacanang.
The PCG said the incident was first reported by Barangay 830, Zone 90, District 6 Sangguniang Kabataan chair Reskie Aguilar who warned of a person sitting on the Mabini Bridge along the Pasig River.
Authorities identified the man as Jessie Ang, of Barangay 814, Mindoro Street, Paco, Manila.
"Tinangka siyang kausapin ng mga rumespondeng PCG personnel, pero tuluyan siyang tumalon sa Mabini Bridge (Responding PCG personnel attempted to talk to him but he continued to jump)," the PCG said in a Facebook post.
He was rescued by the PCG team and was brought to the sub-station Hospicio de San Jose for identification.
"Binigyan din siya ng first aid, damit, pagkain, at inumin habang isinasailalim sa profiling (He was given first aid, clothes, food, and drinks while he was undergoing profiling)," it said.
Ang was later turned over to Aguilar for further assistance. (PNA)
