SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique - The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) is urging local government units (LGUs) in Antique to prepare for a possible surge of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases after the May 9 elections.
IPHO Nurse 4 Sheree Vego, in an interview Friday, said the province's 18 LGUs were advised to prepare, particularly their Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMFs) or isolation centers.
"We anticipate a possible surge in the Covid-19 because of the very recent election and other previous activities where people were free to go out," she said.
The IPHO is also conducting a logistical inventory to ensure enough supply of medicines if needed.
She added that their medical staff was on hand to enforce Covid-19 health protocol during election day.
The IPHO is confident many of the voters have the protection against Covid-19 for they had availed of the vaccine.
Antique province is currently under Alert Level 2.
As of May 12, it only has three reported Covid-19 active cases. (PNA)
