MANILA - The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is providing more housing projects to ensure that all Filipinos will get access to better and decent living.
In a statement Wednesday, DHSUD Secretary Eduardo del Rosario reiterated that the housing sector is committed to expanding resettlement projects nationwide, to make sure that all informal settler families (ISFs) residing in danger zone areas will be relocated to safe, decent, and resilient communities.
Apart from giving them houses, Del Rosario said the government wants to make sure that ISFs will be moved to sustainable neighborhoods.
Del Rosario graced the groundbreaking ceremony for the site development of two socialized housing projects on Tuesday at Barangay Sto. Domingo in Cainta, Rizal.
ISFs from Barangay Cabugao and Barangay Concepcion will benefit from the housing projects, complete with a multi-purpose covered court and a daycare center at each site.
Del Rosario said the housing projects are part of the government's commitment to providing unwavering public service as well as to delivering decent and sustainable communities for all Filipinos.
A community support facility and evacuation center will also be constructed in the municipality of Rizal, a third-class town composed of 11 barangays in Laguna.
On Monday, Del Rosario led the groundbreaking ceremony for the land development of a resettlement project in Barangay San Roque in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.
"Land development is a key component in ensuring comfortability among its residents," del Rosario emphasized.
This project, initially composed of 58 housing units with a covered court, will be carried out in coordination with the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the local government of San Leonardo.
Del Rosario assured that a proper drainage system and cemented road networks will be included in the construction of the housing and resettlement sites, catering to underprivileged families.
"Ito ay para maitaas natin ang antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan lalo na ang mga tinatawag nating (This is to uplift the living condition of our countrymen especially the so-called) poorest of the poor," he said.
The government is also fast-tracking the expansion of land development to the existing NHA ISF-dedicated resettlement site in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.
Del Rosario said the projects are part of the government's commitment to delivering decent and sustainable housing units for all Filipinos. (PNA)
