BUTUAN CITY - The active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the Caraga Region have climbed to 558, following an additional 147 new cases as of Thursday night.
In a report on Friday, the Department of Health - Caraga (DOH-13) said most of the new cases were recorded in the province of Agusan del Sur with 59, Butuan City (39), and Surigao del Sur (25).
Agusan del Sur and Butuan City are now under Alert Level 3 until January 31 based on the recent declaration made by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Only one infection was recorded on Thursday in Agusan del Norte while no new cases were reported in the provinces of Surigao del Norte and the province of Dinagat Islands.
Aside from Butuan, the other cities in Caraga with reported new cases on Thursday included Bayugan with 10, Tandag (7), Cabadbaran (3), Surigao (2), and Bislig (1).
"Caraga Region now has a cumulative total of 49,798 Covid-19 cases with 47,337 recoveries as seven new recoveries were reported on Thursday," the DOH-13 said.
On the same day, two new Covid-19 related deaths were also reported, bringing the total number of deaths in the region to 1,903. (PNA)
