TACLOBAN CITY - Eastern Samar's provincial government has begun maintaining a minimum number of employees in response to the rising new cases of coronavirus disease 2910 (Covid-19).
Governor Ben Evardone issued an executive order on Thursday, directing department heads at the Provincial Capitol in Borongan City to enforce the working arrangement from January 13 to 31.
"This is to minimize the risk of spreading Covid-19 in the workplace while ensuring that transactions in their respective departments remain unhampered," Evardone said.
He asked department heads to monitor the personnel who will be involved in the work scheme. Other employees will work from home.
Those allowed to work from home are required to submit a daily report to their heads via electronic mail.
All health workers are excluded from this work scheme.
The local government implemented the special working arrangement as the number of new coronavirus cases continued to rise this week.
From 20 new confirmed infections on January 12, the number rose to 36 on January 13 and 32 on January 14.
The local government and the Department of Health have not responded when asked about the number of cases and recoveries in Eastern Samar since the pandemic broke out in 2020. (PNA)
