DAVAO CITY - The city government of Mati, through its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), is giving a cash donation of PHP800,000 to three towns in the Caraga region that were heavily hit by Typhoon Odette.
In an interview Thursday, Ben Jason Tesiorna, head of the Mati City Information Office (CIO), said of the total amount, PHP300,000 will be handed each to Libjo and Loreto towns of Dinagat Islands, while PHP200,000 will go to Burgos municipality of Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte.
"They (CDRRMO personnel) are traveling to Siargao today and tomorrow, they will be in Dinagat Islands," he told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) in an interview.
Apart from the cash donation, Tesiorna said the city government would also donate DRRM supplies to the three municipalities.
He said the donation was sourced from the Mati CDRRMO's Project Program Activities Livelihood Relief Assistance to Victims of Disaster budget.
Mati CDRRMO head Charlemagne Bagasol, who led the team, said they would be traveling for six days to the typhoon-devastated areas.
"The team already coordinated with the Office of Civil Defense Region 13. Let's pray for our team's safe travel to Caraga region," he said in a separate interview. (PNA)
