Renounce justice! Peace advocates and youth rally to shout for justice over the killings of three unarmed soldiers in Legazpi City and all the assassinations that transpired in the history, in the Bicol region.
LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 22 (PIA) - Philippine Army (PA) 5, youth sector, government agencies and peace advocates gathered together to hold indignation rally over the rampant killing and threats of Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Font (CPP-NPA-NDF) in Bicol, Jan. 20.
Replace fear with courage. Philippine Army 5 spearheaded the indignation rally to express condemnation over the continuous threats and insurgency made by CPP-NPA-NDF in the region over 52 years. This serves as an act of courage and bravery of the Filipinos to fights against the rebels.
The rally was conducted to strongly condemn the assassination of three unarmed soldiers by the Sparu Murder Squad of CPP-NPA-NDF while doing an administrative work on a Sunday morning at Banquerohan, Legazpi City.
As the Commission on Human Rights and Legazpi Mayor Noel E. Rosal, already expressed their denouncement on the merciless atrocities and intimidation, the Philippine Army deemed it best to replace the fear of Bicolanos by strength and courage of true patriotism - to submit to and trust the authority and power of the government as it brings peace and development to all Filipinos.
Two of the former rebels who recently surrendered in Sorsogon Province also shared the hardships they undertook under the rebels. The rallyists for peace also staged a flag-burning of the rebels as well as candle-lighting for the souls of the dead soldiers. (KAB/PIA5)
