DAVAO CITY, Jan. 11 (PIA)- Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio revealed the opening of a pay temporary treatment and monitoring facility for "choosy" patients.
She told the Davao City Disaster Radio that based on experience, there are patients who are selective with their temporary dwelling especially if their classification is only either symptomatic or asymptomatic.
The TTMF is designed to cater only to patients who are COVID-19 positive but can bear with their health situation and have to be isolated.
"We have opened pay TTMF where patients have to pay for their accommodation on the facility," Duterte-Carpio said.
She said the pay will be standard, for ten days with food, own comfort room and medical staff watching over.
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio bared there is a need for the local government to communicate to the people the importance of the vaccination to prevent COVID-19 infection.
She said a communication plan is vital given the hesitation of the part of the population does not accept vaccination.
"The vaccination program is mandatory but the actual vaccination of residents is only voluntary," Duterte-Carpio said.
She said the refusal of many people for vaccination is understandable given that the vaccines are made in haste due to the pandemic.
Duterte-Carpio bared she is negotiating with other drug companies that can provide vaccines for the city.
She clarified that no company can provide solely the vaccines for the city.
"The approach is not putting one's eggs in one basket," Duterte-Carpio said.
She mulled on limiting the complications especially if there are vaccines that will be problematic in the future.
The AstraZeneca has already agreed with the city government on producing vaccines following the negotiations which started in October 2020.
She said the timeline for the vaccines from AstraZeneca will be on the third quarter of the year 2021.
Duterte-Carpio said she had no idea on the number of vaccines intended for the city from the national government. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
