PASIG CITY, Nov. 4 (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-National Capital Region (TESDA-NCR) on Tuesday launched its first Regional Training and Assessment Center.
TESDA Director General, Secretary Isidro Lapena, together with TESDA Deputy Directors General - Lina C. Sarmiento, Aniceto "John" D. Bertiz, III, and TESDA-NCR Regional Director Florencio Sunico, Jr. led the unveiling of the symbolic marker and inauguration of the first TESDA Regional Training and Assessment Center.
The TESDA officials also took a quick tour at the RTC-NCR Welding Training Area, and Ship's Catering Assessment Area.
Setting-up a Regional Training Center for each region in the country is one of the directives of Sec. Lapena, and during his message at the event, the Secretary expresses how happy he is that it was made possible by the TESDA-NCR team.
Lapena said that the reason why he wanted to establish Regional Training and Assessment Centers in the country is because of the TESDA's Slogan - TESDA Abot Lahat. He emphasized his goal to give each Filipino the opportunity to be trained and be assessed in their respective regions, without giving them the trouble of going to other regions to avail these services.
The TESDA chief also shared his appreciation to TESDA NCR's team for being prompt and for competently responding to his directives, supporting his goals to help every Filipino acquire skills, and secure a job after.
Likewise, TESDA-NCR Regional Director, Florencio F. Sunico, Jr., made the event more memorable for conducting the very first simultaneous Training Induction Program (TIP) in the region to commence the training of the 340 Scholars enrolled in various TESDA programs.
According to TESDA-NCR, the scholars come from the different districts in NCR and attended the TIP via Zoom video conference and TESDA-NCR District Directors were all present in the said event.
Secretary Isidro Lapena once said that it is his vision in NCR to come up with a Regional Training Center that would serve as a model and showcase of TVET. And with that, the region happily accepted this challenge, and gradually realizing this vision into a reality.
TESDA-NCR continues to provide inclusive and flexible training programs to scholars amidst the challenges brought about by COVID-19. (PIA-NCR)
