PAGADIAN CITY, Oct 10 (PIA)- Over 100 gun enthusiasts and shooters participated in the shoot for a cause organized by the 1st Field Artillery Battalion, Army Artillery Regiment held at Tabak Firing Range, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division Headquarters on October 4-6, 2019.
The 1st Beat 'Em Pistol Challenge is an invitational event participated by civilians, law enforcement and select members of the military and Philippine National Police from Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao del Norte.
LtCol. Jose Noel Romero, battalion commander of 1FAB said the donations from the event will provide the social services of the newly adopted barangay in Sto. Rosario of Tukuran town.
"The registration fee of the participants will go to barangay Sto. Rosario to fund for our civil-military operations' activities," Romero said.
Meanwhile, Jail 0fficer 2 Ronnie Panuncialman of the Bureau of Jail and Management and Penology was grateful to the 1FAB for inviting the BJMP team in the pistol challenge.
Panuncialman said he was able to improve his shooting skills with live-fire exercises .
"During the event, I learned to practice firearms safety and safe gun handling," Panuncialman said whose team won first runner up in the team versus team competition.
He also lauded the organizers for the setup of firing ranges that is positioned in a direction where participants can safely point their firearms.
M/Sgt. Enrico Reyes of Zamboanga City Philippine National Police said the pistol challenge is something that can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age (legal age), gender and athletic ability.
"It enhanced our shooting skills and developed us to be a safe, ethical and responsible shooters," Reyes said. (RVC/GCC/PIA-Zamboanga del Sur)
