CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Sept.9 (PIA) -- Department of Education (DepEd) kicked off the celebration of the 2019 National Teachers' Month in Central Luzon.
The celebration, which runs from September 5 to October 5, aims to honor those who are in the teaching profession as well as retired teachers.
"It aims to acknowledge and give emphasis on the crucial role that teachers play in holistically developing their students' skills, competence and values," DepEd OIC-Regional Director Nicolas Capulong said.
Further, the celebration is meant to revitalize the image of teaching as an attractive and fulfilling profession which effects positive influences on learners, while at the same time generating widespread support and assistance for the teachers.
The highlight of this year's celebration is the 2019 Regional Search for Outstanding Teachers and School Heads.
"The regional search aims to give special recognition to teachers and school heads who manifest profound commitment, exemplary competence and remarkable dedication to their work," Capulong said.
The annual celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 242 declaring September 5 to October 5 every year as National Teachers' Month, as well as Republic Act No. 10743 declaring October 5 every year as National Teachers' Day. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
