ANGELES CITY, June 12 (PIA) - Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and Chief Executive Officer Vivencio Dizon keynoted today the 120thIndependence Day rites at Pamintuan Mansion otherwise known asMuseong Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas.
After the singing of the Lupang Hinirang and reciting of the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat, the program transferred to Holy Rosary Parish Church due to inclement weather.
"As a Kapampangan, I am proud of the vital role Angeles City played during the early years of the Philippine republic," Dizon said.
"The administration's Build Build Build infrastructure program is meant to ease the daily burden of Filipinos by improving roads, airports, seaports and railways so that they can feel the true essence of the independence we have attained 120 years ago," he added.
Projects under Build Build Build include the National Government Administrative Center inside New Clark City, Clark International Airport New Passenger Terminal, Subic-Clark Cargo Railway and PNR Clark.
After serving as an office of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Pamintuan Mansion reopened in 2015 as a museum offering a panorama of past and present life and culture of ordinary Filipinos.
In 2017, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) installed a revised marker at the Pamintuan Mansion stating that "across this grand house, a military parade was held on the eve of the first anniversary in 1899."
NHCP likewise installed a marker at theHoly Rosary Parish Church recognizing it as site of the first anniversary of 1898 Philippine Independence from Spain.
The marker, written in Kapampangan and Filipino, states that the Augustinian church was the site where "thousands of Filipinos converged for a mass that was followed by a speech of General Emilio Aguinaldo as part of the celebration of the first anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Philippines on June 12, 1899."
This year's Independence Day celebration carries the theme "Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan." (CLJD-PIA 3)
