NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, July 17 (PIA6) - The Philippine Information Agency's (PIA6) Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) information kiosk, as well as its exhibit of ASEAN traditional costumes are now open to the public.
This, after PIA6's information kiosk and photo exhibit opened on July 17 which will run until July 21 at Robinson's Place Bacolod.
Lawyer Ma. Janet Mesa, regional director of PIA6, said the information kiosk was the 23rd that was opened in Western Visayas this year, while the traditional ASEAN costume photo exhibit was the second of its kind to be launched this year as well, with the first one opened in Iloilo recently.
She said this was the third information kiosk launched in Bacolod City after the previous two were opened at SM City Bacolod and the Provincial capitol.
Meanwhile, the traditional ASEAN costumes, according to Mesa, "highlights the uniqueness of each ASEAN nation and to show how different we are, but in reality we are one."
Clara Vicente, officer-in-charge of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) - Regional Consular Office, and Olive Seruelo, Provincial Environment Management Office information officer and president of the Negros Association of Government Information Officers and Liaisons (NAGIOL), joined Mesa during the ribbon-cutting at the information kiosk.
After the ribbon-cutting, the heads and representatives of various National Government Agencies and provincial and city offices took a short tour as the photos of traditional ASEAN costumes were unveiled one by one.
In Negros Occidental alone, PIA6 has opened three information kiosks; conducted a multi-sectoral forum, KumpaS Barangay, school forum; and launched a photo exhibit in support of the ASEAN awareness campaign.
"The PIA as part of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), and its other partner agencies, have been tasked to share information and updates on ASEAN-related events," said Mesa. (JCM/CBA/PIA6-Negros Occidental)
