Tampines Rovers can recharge S.League season with AFC Cup win
ESPN - Thursday 20th April, 2017
Tampines Rovers will return to their 2017 S.League campaign in high spirits, with coach Jurgen Raab hailing the character of their 3-1 AFC Cup win away to Malaysia's Felda United.
The Group G victory at Jengka in Pahang on Wednesday night kept alive their hopes of advancing into the knockout round.
They will host Garena Young Lions in the S.League on Sunday and play their final AFC Cup group game at home to Ceres-Negros of Philippines on May 3.
Starting Wednesday bottom of the group with only three points from their opening four games, it looked as though the Stags were going to be denied at Tun Abdul Razak Stadium when Ivan Dzoni's opener was cancelled out shortly after half-time by Felda striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha.
But, with what proved to be a stroke of brilliance, Raab introduced veteran Khairul Amri in the 65th minute and, within six minutes, the Singapore international had netted twice to win the game.
